Bachelor of Music in Viola Performance from the University of Arizona, Tucson, AZ 2013
Masters of Music in Viola Performance from Temple University, Philadelphia, PA 2015
Mrs. Amber Casper is a violist and teacher of the violin and viola living in Media, Pennsylvania. She has performed in concert halls across the USA, Europe and China, and has even taught in Italy at the Interharmony International Music Festival! As a young college student, Mrs. Amber spent her summers studying in Shanghai, Beijing and Italy with some of the worlds most renown teachers and performers; however her principle teacher of the viola is Hong Mei Xiao. Mrs. Amber is also blessed to study fiddle and pedagogy with Julie Lyonn Lieberman as well as fiddle with Chris Haigh, and harp with Thérèse Hurly and Anne Crosby Gaudet.
Amber is passionate about teaching and has maintained a private studio since 2014. She was greatly impacted as a child by her private teachers; Lindianne Sarno, David Rife and Dennis R. Bourret who was the founder and director of Tucson Junior Strings. Knowing the impact a good teacher can have on a person, Amber is dedicated to her studio and instructs students each week of all ages and levels nationwide. Additionally, she has a flourishing Patreon Community where she produces weekly content, teaches group classes and even hosts monthly guest artist classes which feature guest professors, artists and performers from around the world (there is an archive on Patreon!). She has also contributed violin and viola lesson videos to YouTube for the last 10 years and loves to interact with her community on YouTube!
The study of music is a discipline which requires your mind, body and spirit! Enjoy your musical journey, and not just in your own practice room, but also with others who share an interest in music at our group classes and in person events. In order to grow beyond being "closet musicians", Amber organizes yearly studio recitals, quarterly in person ensemble classes and studio trips to concerts and even summer workshops and festivals abroad. (We have been to Italy, The Lionel Tertis International Music Festival and Competition in the Isle of Man, UK, The Tanglewood Music Festival to see Hilary Hahn, and Strings Without Boundaries in Massachusettes).
Lessons are centered around YOU. Each lesson encompasses ear, rhythm & music reading training, proper classical technique and form, along with some music theory, and of course plenty of repertoire you'll love from the classical, folk, fiddle and popular genres. Amber works with the acclaimed Leopold Auer’s Graded Course of Violin Playing methodology and The Royal Conservatory of Music violin and viola methodologies, along with the traditional violin and viola technique books (she has A LOT of books, but can't possibly list them all here!).
Amber is blessed to have a wonderful and supportive husband who really knows how to do everything--it's amazing!!! None of this would be possible without him!!! Other interests include the harp, tea (a cup of which must always be nearby!), she LOOOOVES history with the passion of a thousand suns!!!, reading,!!!!, philosophy, science, mysticism & religion, the arts, language, fitness and health, other cultures (especially anything French!!!), nature, food!!!, travel, knitting, sewing, fashion, going to the shooting range with her father and husband, talking to people, bothering her friends & family--the list could go on!!
